Today was a terrible day for Louisiana’s women.  The extremists have been working behind the scenes to continue Louisiana’s war on women.  There is no doubt that they can count today as a victory.  You can, however, make a difference.

First, HB1274, the bill that could force women onto life support as incubators, passed its Senate Committee.  This bill eliminates rights for a class of people: pregnant women.  No longer will they have a voice in what happens with their body.  With this broad of an impact, we expected the committee to deeply consider the bill, but it passed with almost no discussion.  It heads on to the full Senate next.  Take action now by telling your Senator to vote against HB1274.

And HB388, the bill that would force women to seek out back alley abortions, passed the House and is headed to Governor Jindal’s desk.  Closed clinics mean that NO woman can exercise her right to terminate a pregnancy, not for health, not for rape, and not for incest.  Stop this now!  Jindal must sign or veto this legislation within 10 days, or it becomes law without his signature.  The clock is ticking.  Please contact Governor Jindal now and tell him to veto this bill!
