What an inspiring weekend! We just returned from DC where our Louisiana group joined with hundreds of thousands at the Women’s March. It was wonderful to see such a strong, positive statement. Our friends marched in Louisiana told us that they had the same experience across the state! But, while the march was great, it’s time to take the next steps.
We have a lot of allies, and we’re going to need them: this fight is just beginning. In his first full day on the job, Trump has already started attacking women’s rights. We’ve already seen his election bolden the opposition: the US House already introduced a bill that would ban abortions at 6 weeks across the entire country. Louisiana is working on “emergency regulations” to limit abortions, and the state just hired a high powered lawyer to bring down abortion rights.
It turns out that lawyer is expensive: he’s getting $385 an hour, instead of the normal rate of $225. The last time this happened, Louisiana paid him between $400,000 and $750,000 to defend laws that were ultimately defeated. This seems like the wrong priority when we have a budget deficit.
We’ll put out an action soon, but in the meantime, we’d like to make an introduction:
While Choice Louisiana works across the state, the real power is with you, at the local level. The government works for you, the people, and it works best when we get together with our neighbors to contact our congresspeople as a group. That’s why I wanted to share the Indivisible Guide, which is a roadmap to getting what you want out of government. You can read the guide here:

Thanks for all of your help. Together we’re going to be successful!
